Headquartered in Redditch, this secure 27,000sq.ft facility is dedicated to design, engineering, manufacturing and service support. In addition to our main Redditch site, we operate a 24,000sq. ft. battery design and assembly facility located in Crewkerne, a 15,000sq. ft. facility in Leominster dedicated to antenna production, electronics, and software, and dual sites located in Iver and Langley comprising of a 5,000sq. ft. production facility and offices which are home to our imaging business unit, Active Silicon.
Key Responsibilities
* Seeking new supplier and building new relationships
* Maintaining effective supplier relationships
* Obtaining quotations and negotiating best prices from suppliers
* Attending supplier meetings as required across the UK
* Sourcing and arranging tenders from new and existing suppliers
* Ensuring that priorities are worked on using the information from the MRP system
* Raising purchase orders and maintaining order progression
* Raising orders from requisition forms
* Ensuring delivery of items to agreed quality standards in a timely fashion
* Completing quotation headers for the sales team
* Maintaining relevant supplier key performance indicators
* Logistics management and process of customs entry for imports
* Actioning order confirmations, pro-forma invoices and shipping documents when required
* Liaising between purchasing, production and the sales team to ensure regular and precise communication is maintained
* Seeking ways to improve current processes
* Adherence to all health, safety, environmental & quality policies and standards outlined by the company.
* You will be required to be flexible in this role and must be prepared to perform other tasks and undertake additional duties in any area of the business as determined by the leadership team. These tasks may be outside your normal work area.
Skills & Qualifications
* CIPS qualification advantageous, but not essential.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills needed to communicate to multiple stakeholders
* Ability to initiate, plan and organise
* A high level of attention to detail
* Proficient in using all Microsoft office packages
* Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to work well with tight timescales
Experience
* Previous experience working within a purchasing department is essential
* Previous experience within a buyer role is preferred but not essential, preferably as a buyer within a manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of Epicor or a similar Manufacturing ERP system
* Familiarity of an MRP system
* Working in client/supplier facing role where regular communication is required
* Working in a multidisciplined role
* Working to tight deadlines
