Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, resilient and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils with varied SEN in one of our inspirational Primary PRU Settings in South Shields on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils on a 1:1 basis and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role:
1. The role will involve supporting Primary School aged pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis around School and in all of their lessons. The different types of SEN that pupils have may include varying levels of ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
2. A vital part of the role will be to develop a positive relationship and rapport with the pupil to help to develop trust and manage challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner.
3. A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.
4. The role will also involve supporting across the School at breaktimes and lunchtimes as required.
About the Setting:
5. The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in South Shields. Pupils at the PRU have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School and as such, will display challenging behaviour. This may include violence.
6. The School supports pupils across the Primary School age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all years groups depending on your preference and specialism.
7. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
8. Pay – Between £80-100 per day
9. Hours –
10. Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
13. A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
14. Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
15. An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
16. A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
17. Hold Right to Work in the UK
18. Ability to drive and access to a car (desired)
19. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
20. Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
