Overview We’re recruiting a Site Engineer to join an exciting main contractor delivering a major highways package in the Leiston area - a permanent link road of approx. 6.5km worth £100 million that will form a key piece of local infrastructure supporting a large energy infrastructure programme. This is a hands-on, field-facing role reporting to the Senior Engineer and working across setting-out, survey, QA and day-to-day engineering control. Key Responsibilities * Deliver accurate setting-out and control surveying across earthworks, drainage and highway elements (Level, EDM, GPS). * Complete daily site diaries, photographic records and material reconciliation to programme and QA standards. * Calibrate and maintain survey equipment; carry out as-built and verification surveys and produce 2D/3D site sketches. * Coordinate engineering information with operatives, subcontractors and the site office; issue basic technical clarifications. * Support quality and compliance activities — maintain records, assist inspections and close out snags. * Contribute to site planning, waste control and continuous improvement; mentor junior engineers and technicians. * Maintain a safe working environment and apply site H&S procedures at all times. Qualifications & Experience * HND / Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying or related discipline (or demonstrable equivalent experience). * Proven experience in highways or heavy civils site engineering (setting-out, as-built survey, material checks). * Competent with Level, EDM and GPS surveying equipment and associated data workflows. * CSCS card (or equivalent), full UK driving licence. SMSTS / SSSTS and CIRIA/site safety qualifications are advantageous. * Strong IT literacy — Office 365, basic CAD or survey office tools for producing sketches and record drawings. * Confident communicator, organised, proactive and able to work in a busy site environment. * Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
