Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust ispleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors whoare passionate about their practice and their career outside traditionalmodels. Our posts will combine educationand career development with practical patient-facing care. They are suited tothose individuals that are keen to progress towards specialisation in elderlycare.
These posts are not recognised UKtraining posts. Nevertheless, MYDocdoctors will have a named educational supervisor and be supported inundertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and developalongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes orcredentialing to develop their portfolios and create a tailored role tosupportcareer progression through other routes.
Main duties of the job
Clinicalresponsibilities will include:
Attendance at daily senior-led post take ward round on theadmission units or delivery of senior support of Care of the Elderly ward basedmedical teams
Provision of specialist opinion, with consultant support
Participation in outpatient, virtual clinics or home visits
Participation in teaching and training
Regular audit, data collection and assessment ofeffectiveness of the role
Maintain overview of all ward patients
Actively participating and facilitating discharges on theward
Support and supervise junior doctors on the ward
Liaise with Same Day Emergency Care ANPs if necessary
Contribute in the electronic and verbal handover of patients

Job responsibilities
This postis offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full timeapplications will be considered.
The postwill complement our existing consultant workforce. Successful applicants willwork predominantly at either Pinderfields Hospital or Dewsbury Hospital, on arotational basis and all Doctors will work across both sites. Furtherprogrammed activities may be available and negotiated via the job planningprocess. We would expect successful applicants work towards of the attainmentof CESR via the GMC Portfolio pathway.
TheElderly Medicine Department within the Trust consists of 15 substantiveConsultants. The Department is supportedby Specialist Registrars, Core Medical Trainees, GP VTS Trainees and foundationdoctors.
The postholder will provide care for older patients and those with moderate/severefrailty over the age of 65.

This postincludes on-call responsibilities as part of a dedicated Elderly Care middlegrade on-call rota together with the existing elderly care consultantworkforce. Working arrangements outsideof core hours will include
Long Day shifts 8am 8pm Monday to Friday (1:4) on AcuteCare of the Elderly Units.
On-call weekends 1:4 (one at Pinderfields, one at Dewsbury).
Therewill be no commitment to nighttime on call rotas.
