Offer description

If you have motivation, persistence, creativity and a flair for event management or comms and marketing, then take a look!

It’s a great opportunity to develop this new role aimed at growing our income with a focus on maximising the use of our building, running events and support with marketing and communications. And you get to make a difference in our community at the same time.

Hours: 20 hours per week (including breaks), hours to be agreed in coordination with the Hub Leader and are likely to include Thursdays and at least 2 weekend days each month. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.

Salary: Grade E £28,088 to £29,201 per annum FTE (£14,044 to £14,600 actual salary)

This is a fixed term post for 18 months, funded by the National Lottery, with a view to extending after the initial period as long as income generation plans are going as expected.

Deadline for applications Monday 3rd November

Oasis Hubs are local places of activity that provide integrated, high quality and diverse services to benefit the whole person and the whole community. The Oasis ethos stems from our Christian roots and is an expression of our character - it is a declaration of who we are and therefore the lens through which we assess all we do. This is encapsulated by the following five statements: a passion to include everyone; a desire to treat everyone equally, respecting differences; a commitment to healthy and open relationships; a deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed; a sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul.

Oasis Hub Hull serves our whole community with our inclusive vision where everyone is welcome and everyone participates in creating our community together. We aim to support people to flourish socially, physically, emotionally, spiritually, educationally, environmentally and morally.

Open House and Food Club provides a space where everyone is welcome to participate and create community together. We like people to see us as a second home. We all support each other, take part and have fun together. Our World of Wonder attracts many local families.

Our holistic offer also includes church on a Sunday, other opportunities to explore faith and spirituality, a peer support group for SEN families, and we hope to expand the different ways we can be involved in community and give support.

This is an exciting new role that will focus on income generation in order to help us to sustain and grow how we support our community into the future. The successful candidate will be able to shape and develop the role as it becomes established. The role will have an initial focus on maximising income generation through our building, for example with room hire, craft fairs, birthday parties, pop-up cafes or pop-up charity shops, selling items through eBay. We are looking for someone with creative ideas and the enthusiasm to put them into practice, and there is lots of room for flexibility in the role.

As well as creating and implementing new ideas and activities to raise income for our charity, the role will support with marketing and communications.

We are looking for someone who can be creative and flexible, with a ‘can do’ attitude. Your enthusiasm and willingness to get things done will be something you are able to spread to others in motivating and recruiting volunteers to help out, enabling activities and events to run successfully. In return, you will join a flexible, supportive workplace and have the opportunity to make a real difference for our local community.

Our ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and planning skills, with the ability to cope with any eventuality that occurs. They will need to work ‘on the ground’ at events and activities as well as planning and coordinating them. This could include taking shifts for our WoW parties on Saturdays and Sundays, taking the lead on the day when we run a craft fair, being on site for a pop-up café or an evening event. This means we expect that the role will require at least 2 evening or weekend shifts each month.

We are not looking for any particular qualifications, but we are looking for someone who can show us they understand how to run events and activities well, including marketing them to ensure people attend. This can be a mixture of training and experience in a formal or informal setting and will include the motivation and attitude to communicate well and be persistent where needed.
