Who we are looking for
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be using your varied technology skills to support, maintain and manage a range of diverse technologies.
The Infrastructure Systems team are responsible for the lifecycle management of compute and storage platforms that underpin our highly demanding products and services.
The global environment is varied and complex, incorporating bare metal, virtualised, and containerised Windows and Linux workloads, both on private and public cloud.
As an experienced Engineer, you will play an integral part in improving the day-to-day operational efficiency and predictability of our systems. You will work on cross-functional infrastructure solutions, helping with business continuity management exercises, problem investigations, incident resolution and system builds, whilst striving for continuous improvement.
You will have the opportunity to upskill in current technologies, and future technologies within the Infrastructure Systems environment.
You will be required to provide out of hours support on a rota basis, which may also require weekend in office presence from time to time.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred skills and experience
* Previous experience in a support based role, supporting an incident management function and knowledge of ITIL.
* Linux (preferably Red Hat derivatives) or Windows system administration.
* Experience in the use of virtual infrastructures, including using VMware tools.
* Fundamental understanding of networking, load balancing, storage and virtualisation.
* Effective time management, organisation and work prioritisation to meet deadlines, while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
* Provide a logical approach to solving problems under pressure.
* Active communicator on technical issues.
* Self-motivation to investigate and resolve issues across the systems technology stack.
* Knowledge of Remedy and Helix use are advantageous.
Main Responsibilities
* Collaborating with technology specialists to fix issues and deliver platform enhancements.
* Recognising areas for continuous improvement and opportunities for automation.
* Supporting, maintaining, building and managing privately hosted container platforms, systems and storage.
* Monitoring our critical systems, whilst suggesting and creating additional monitoring systems, dashboards and processes to further improve visibility.
* Owning the incident management programme through to ticket closure ensuring regular update and customer updates.
* Ensuring collaboration channels are used to help resolve incidents in the fastest way possible.
* Completing repeatable infrastructure systems tasks and identifying areas for improvement.
