Job Overview Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy Acute Team Leader (up to 1.0 WTE). We have an opportunity for a Band 7 Team Leader – Acute inpatients. As our dedicated clinical team grows, we are looking for a clinical team leader who can support and develop SLTs and TIs, represent SLT within the MDT and drive the future development of excellent SLT services for acute inpatients. This is a key clinical leadership role, and we are looking for a passionate SLT with a strong clinical background in adult acquired disorders, with clinical leadership experience that has demonstrated an ability to develop the skills and knowledge of others. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Main duties of the job You will be part of the friendly and supportive Adult Speech and Language Therapy team where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. You will join a growing team of Speech and Language Therapists and technical instructors. There is excellent peer support with our ‘one team’ approach across acute and community SLT services. We have regular team meetings and have strong links with other specialist services. Clinical supervision is actively encouraged and there are regular cross team CPD and training opportunities as you continue to develop and hone your clinical skills. There is access to regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including Videofluoroscopy and FEES. You will work closely with our team leaders for adult community services and stroke, as well as being part of our whole service Leadership and Management Group, spanning services across the age range. You will line manage a team of SLTs and TIs working within the hospital as well as leading a range of service improvements. MDT initiatives are encouraged. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S< HCPC registered Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio. Clinical supervisory experience Desirable criteria Membership of appropriate clinical network group Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate Experience Essential criteria Significant experience clinically in area of specialism Experience of clinical leadership Delegation to qualified and non-registered staff Experience of delivering clinical education in area of specialty Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams Experience in service development / improvement. Experience of leading clinical audit Experience of delivering / supporting practice / service change Delivering Practice Supervision Contributing to Student training Desirable criteria Welsh / English therapy provision Experience of lecturing externally Experience of project management Additional clinical or health care related experience Experience in research Knowledge And Skills Essential criteria Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to problem-solve Negotiation skills Prioritisation skills Ability to work as a team member Extensive clinical experience and knowledge in relationship to specialty Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area Awareness of roles of other professionals involved in care of service users on agreed caseload Delivering Practice Supervision Desirable criteria Welsh / English therapy provision Alternative and Augmentative Communication knowledge & skills
