Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEMH / Autism Support) Kingston upon Thames Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm £90–£105 per day Start ASAP We are currently recruiting a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Kingston upon Thames. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting pupils with additional needs across the school day. The role is split across two settings: Mornings (1:1 Support – ASC & Behavioural Needs) You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated behavioural challenges. The focus will be on: Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour for learning Following consistent routines and clear boundaries Using a calm, nurturing and trauma-informed approach Encouraging independence, engagement and communication This part of the role suits someone with strong SEMH experience or instincts — patient, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviour in a positive way. Afternoons (Resource Base Support) In the afternoons, you will work within the school’s resource base, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs across small-group and individual learning activities. This includes: Assisting with differentiated learning tasks Supporting communication, social skills and emotional wellbeing Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement strategies About the school This is a supportive, well-run primary school with a strong focus on inclusion, teamwork and pupil wellbeing. Who we’re looking for: Experienced Teaching Assistants or SEN TAs Individuals with SEMH, ASC or behaviour support experience Youth workers, care workers or support workers looking to move into education Calm, consistent and compassionate personalities No formal SEN qualification is essential — the right attitude and willingness to learn are key.
