Salary: £? - ? per year Requirements: Proven experience in batch processing and job scheduling using BMC Control-M or similar tools Proven experience in a Data Centre or Comms Room environment Understanding of JCL Proficiency in Korn Shell Scripting Knowledge of Linux and Unix commands Basic knowledge of Oracle and associated database structures ITIL Fundamentals Ability to work effectively under pressure in a 24/7 live environment Experience in root-cause analysis and break-fix resolution Confidence working both independently and as part of a dedicated support team Responsibilities: Monitor and manage systems Observe monitoring consoles and event-driven alerts Coordinate with vendors when support calls are raised Respond to out-of-hours incidents effectively and promptly Take corrective action for agreed and documented administrative systems Run and monitor traditional batch schedules, including automated tools such as Control-M and Visualcron Run release jobs and scripts to move development changes into production Physically manage bulk printing machines Remove tapes daily and box them up for off-siting Test access to systems to prove availability Ensure security and access procedures are maintained and followed Technologies: Support ITIL Linux Oracle Security Unix More: We are working with a leading organisation in Cardiff to appoint a seasoned Data Centre Operations Engineer with technical proficiency in BMC Control-M scheduling and experience in a Microfocus environment. This is a 6 month contract role based on-site in South Wales, working within a 4 on / 4 off rotational shift pattern across 12-hour day and night shifts.
