Position Summary
* Plan, plant and be responsible for the subsequent aftercare of municipal horticultural displays, sport and other turf and the urban forest
* Assist in planning and performing all aspects of plant (tropical and garden annual & perennial) culture, garden design and maintenance
* Maintain records of daily activities for future reference as well as performance records for individual flowers, gardens and bulbs
* Perform traffic control in accordance with Book 7
* Other duties as assigned
* Hours of operation are typically between 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, (Monday to Friday)
* Must be able to start full time work as of May 4, 2026
Qualifications, Competencies
* MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2026 – Verification will be required
* Preference will be given to those enrolled in horticulture
* Must have a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s licence
* Must demonstrate corporate values of Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
* Ability to work alone or in a team environment
* Proven customer service skills
* Proof of immunity to Tetanus and Hepatitis B may be required prior to start date
* Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
* Must be able to follow instructions and complete daily work assignments
* Must provide and wear CSA approved protective footwear
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check at candidate’s own expense
