Associate / Senior Associate – Legal Professionals Disputes (Bristol)
I'm working with a top-tier international insurance firm who are looking to grow their Legal Professionals Disputes team in Bristol with the hire of an Associate or Senior Associate. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with experience in solicitors' defence or professional discipline who wants to deepen their expertise, broaden into civil claims work, and gain real client exposure.
The team is genuinely market leading and known for the quality and profile of its work. You'll be advising on complex, often high-value and high-profile matters, while being given real autonomy over your cases and the support of a collaborative, specialist group around you.
This is a role for someone who enjoys litigation, wants responsibility, and is interested in developing both technically and commercially.
The role will include:
- Defending solicitors in professional disciplinary investigations and proceedings
- Acting on civil claims against solicitors, including pre-action and High Court litigation
- Running complex, high-value matters day to day with strategic input
- Advising insurers on coverage and liability issues
- Drafting detailed and technically strong advice
- Resolving disputes through ADR, including mediation
- Involvement in fast-paced and often high-profile work, including proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal
- Direct client contact from an early stage
- Opportunities to build client relationships and contribute to business development
The wider practice works in a genuinely collaborative way. While individuals develop their own specialisms, there is strong cross-team working, giving you exposure to a broad mix of disputes and the chance to expand your skill set.
You'll ideally have:
- Around 4+ years' PQE
- Experience in professional discipline, particularly defending solicitors
- An interest in developing or strengthening your experience in civil claims against solicitors
- Strong drafting and analytical skills
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and insurers
- A proactive, ambitious mindset
