Become a Senior Financial Reporting Manager As the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, you will be a vital part of our finance team, responsible for preparing all Group-level reporting and leading the financial reporting team. Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the financial management, reporting, and control environment of the group. You will ensure the provision of high-quality supporting information through month-end to facilitate effective decision-making and lead the statutory audit process. You will also build strong relationships with other teams across the business to provide clear and concise data for decision-making, while balancing the commercial impact of financial data and recommendations. You will be a key member of the financial reporting team, with responsibilities including: Review of financial data Statutory and external reporting Month-end activities Improving processes, policies, and controls to ensure compliance and deliver maximum value to The Works Your Mission Lead the financial reporting team to deliver on targets, including mentoring, coaching, and developing less experienced members, while supporting wider finance teams. Develop and maintain a strong financial control environment by challenging existing procedures and processes, and designing, implementing, and improving controls as necessary. Provide technical financial support to business area finance functions, including the delivery of sound financial information to aid management decision-making, and rolling out training on accounting treatment under new accounting standards. Develop and maintain the Group Accounting manual, ensuring all relevant policies and procedures are kept up to date. Control all monthly group accounting, including timely and accurate delivery of monthly group management accounts. Oversee balance sheet control and risk management to ensure financial integrity and mitigate risks. Support all internal and external audit processes, contributing to audit readiness and compliance. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including the production of the Annual Report and subsidiary accounts. Own, manage, and improve the Group’s property balance sheet and capex processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives. Drive improvements in the Group’s stock reporting, including support for the profit protection team, understanding stock take frequency and reporting, stock provisions, and movements in stock balances, with the ability to clearly explain variances. Support with the Group’s HMRC requirements, including corporation tax and VAT, as required. Undertake ad hoc project work as required, such as stock control enhancements, tax controls, and capex policy review. Skills/Behaviours That Will Set You Apart Qualified Accountant, with minimum 4 years post qualified experience Experience of IFRS and external reporting requirements Experience and knowledge in dealing with and concluding on technical accounting queries Strong analytical and planning skills, coupled with a solid accounting and control background. Effective communication skills to communicate accounting and controls matters to non-finance colleagues. An ability to understand the commercial implications of decision making and be able to balance these with the technical accounting requirements.
