Description Overview Wincanton are looking to recruit a Regional Health and Safety Manager for our EDF Energy contract. The role covers six sites and 200 colleagues, across Weston Super Mare, Gloucester, Bristol and Bridgewater and supports our warehousing operations. Our sites house all construction items for the build of HPC nuclear power station, estimated to be complete in 2032. This exciting project will power 6 million homes for three generations and help Britain to achieve Net Zero. Reporting to the General Manager, this key role supports the customer contract by integrating effectively with the senior management team onsite to ensure H&S standards & compliance is achieved and maintained through high levels of employee engagement and a strong health and safety behaviour culture. This is predominantly Monday to Friday role, salary £60,000 - £70,000 p.a plus company car. Successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance prior to commencing employment, this includes being able to provide a minimum of 3 years consecutive UK employment/education & residential history How will you contribute? Manage multiple site Health & Safety in accordance with Wincanton’s Safety Health Environmental Procedures Ensure the site meets or exceeds the Health & Safety targets expected by Company / Client Manage and drive annual SHEQ safety plans, including embedding and promoting a H&S first culture. Manage and maintain site training records and site training matrix Co-ordination of all site Health & Safety activities and initiatives. Assist/undertake risk assessments and create SSOWs as required. Using corporate IT systems to produce reports & support the delivery of Safety across the network. Dealing with accident investigation (including major incidents) and RIDDOR reports, meeting compliance standards. Define problems and devise effective solutions using rigorous logical and analytical tools Ensure compliance with Regulations by making frequent, unannounced physical inspections and by audits of the written documentation Oversee First Aiders on site, again acting in accordance with site compliance and current legislation What will you bring? NEBOSH general certificate (essential) Experience of working in a management position in a H&S Environment (ideally across multiple locations) Experience of embedding and promoting H&S first culture and initiatives through employee engagement Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation Ability to build strong and effective relationships with customers and colleagues at all levels, by demonstrating a high level of integrity and professionalism High standard of work and integrity Able to resolve multiple and/or complex issues while under pressure Background in construction.
