Job Overview
We are seeking a law graduate with a minimum of 5 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE) in a Bank or NBFC. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in civil and criminal court proceedings, demonstrate a proactive approach, and be capable of managing a legal portfolio independently. Strong leadership, team mentoring, and collaboration skills are essential.
Key Requirements
The applicant should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to independently draft replies and representations on behalf of the Bank.
Core Legal Competencies
* In-depth understanding of court procedures and operations, both civil and criminal.
* Proficient knowledge of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (latest amendments), with experience in coordinating with advocates for interim reliefs under Sections 9 and 17, and for facilitating arbitral awards.
* Skilled in execution of arbitral awards and follow-up processes.
* Familiarity with proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
* Experience in initiating and tracking complaints related to FIRs, including filings under Section 175 and 223 of BNSS (equivalent to Sections 156(3) and 200 of Cr.P.C.).
* Effective liaison with police authorities to ensure execution of summons and warrants.
* Competence in handling matters under the Consumer Protection Act (as amended).
* Strong grounding in civil and recovery laws relevant to banks and NBFCs.
* Knowledge of Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) procedures and ability to manage related litigation.
Additional Expectations
* Willingness to collaborate with the field team for on-ground execution of legal orders.
* Ability to address and resolve customer escalations involving the Reserve Bank of India and other regulatory bodies.
* Proficient in using technology tools for documentation, reporting, and MIS presentations to management.
