We are looking for a keen and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician, or mechanic to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is either an experienced powered access engineer or perhaps an experienced car mechanic, plant fitter, or similar and wants to do something a bit different.
As a Workshop Service Engineer for Nationwide Platforms, you will work within a busy depot to inspect, repair, and maintain our machines, ensuring they are ready for use by our customers. Our machines are powered access equipment such as booms and scissor lifts, but full training will be provided. If you have a great attitude, are willing to learn, and have some mechanical/electrical engineering experience, this could be the role for you.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, life assurance (x2 contractual salary), Westfield healthcare plan, 25 days holiday, and a pension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5:30 pm.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support the Senior Service Engineer in the effective running of the Depot workshop within the region.
2. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client premises and at the depot as required, conforming to manufacturer’s specifications, company policy, and regulations. Ensure no deficiencies or defects affect safe operation. Notify managers of any unsafe equipment.
3. Repair machines at the depot or on-site to ensure conformity with manufacturer’s specifications and company policy.
4. Complete planned maintenance activities, including maintaining the fleet’s appearance to corporate standards.
5. Handover machines to customers and familiarize them with safe operation procedures.
6. Act as an ambassador for the company, providing high standards of customer care, and relay customer queries to depot staff.
7. Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, including engineer’s reports, off-hire, pre/delivery inspection, and service sheets.
8. Update the system on machine status changes, such as PDI completion, repairs, or statutory inspections.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics, and diagnostics fault finding.
* A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
* Understanding of the importance of excellent customer service.
