Mechanical CAD Lead
£40,000 - £55,000

The Mechanical CAD Lead - will be responsible for the line management of up to 10x CAD Engineers. The successful candidate shall produce, maintain, and implement CAD strategy, including standards, manuals, environment, templates, content, training material, and Quality Assurance procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical output of the team, and for planning, reporting, and managing the team's workload as well as provide CAD Coordination of the HVAC Systems CAD data in RR SMR Ltd. and the provision of CAD expertise and training when required for the wider RR SMR Ltd. teams.
Duties:
•Line Manage effectively a section of up to 10x. CAD Engineers. The number of reports may increase to up to 15x CAD Engineers for short periods of time.
•Plan the section's activity in coordination with client departments, CAD/BIM manager and PMO.
•Develop the required CAD environment, processes, standards, and content necessary for the production of VFDs, 3D models, general arrangement drawings, layout drawings, isometrics, manufacturing and assembly drawings, schedules (i.e., BoMs).
•Lead the production of VFDs, 3D models, layout drawings, isometrics, manufacturing and assembly drawings, schedules (i.e., BoMs).
•Provide with technical support to junior CAD Engineers and to the wider project team.
•Carry out quality assurance checks and reports as well as review and acceptance support for CAD information.
•Support other CAD activities if and when required (i.e., Process, Component Definition, Electrical, Civils, Structures, and Architecture)
•The above according to agreed timescales, to the highest quality, and in accordance to industry, and project standards.
Initial Environment Set Up:
The candidate must have experience setting up HVAC CAD environments, including engagement with relevant stakeholders to communicate IT related requirements, CAD tool selection, project defaults set-up, 2D and 3D content creation, attribution setting up, CAD templates creation, in accordance with project and industry standards and best practice.
Ongoing Tool Administration:
The candidate must be a strong administrator of HVAC CAD production environments including the provision of technical support, coordinated system replacements and upgrades, the creation and maintenance of 2D and 3D content libraries, maintaining the data model, PLM integration, provision of training, engagement with IT and CAD system vendor, etc.
Experience identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency i.e., accessing the tools' API to script / code modifications, automations etc. would be highly beneficial.
CAD Production:
Proficient with as many as possible of the following CAD tools:
•SIEMENS NX Diagramming and Mechanical Routing,
•Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical
•Autodesk Fabrication CADmep
•Autodesk REVIT (MEP Tools)
•AVEVA PDMS or E3D (including MDS),
Proficient in the use of at least one of the following PLM tools:
•SIEMENS Teamcenter
•Autodesk VAULT
•DS PDM or 3D EXPERIENCE
Proficient in the use of the following BIM Coordination tools:
•Autodesk Navisworks Simulate
•Autodesk Navisworks Manage
