Newly created Finance Assistant role in a growing Hertford business. Support the finance team with transactional tasks and admin.
Location: Hertford
Hours: 35 hours per week
Reporting to: Finance Manager
A well-established, growing organisation based on the outskirts of Hertford is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support its finance function. This role would suit someone with some prior office-based experience who is looking to build on their exposure within a finance or accounts environment.
You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day transactional finance activities, ensuring accurate records and smooth processes across the business. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Processing purchase invoices and credit notes, ensuring accuracy and appropriate coding.
2. Maintaining supplier records and assisting with supplier statement reconciliations.
3. Raising sales invoices and supporting credit control activity.
4. Assisting with bank and credit card reconciliations.
5. Processing staff expenses and monitoring petty cash.
6. Updating and maintaining spreadsheets for reporting and tracking purposes.
7. Providing general administrative support to the finance team, including filing and record keeping.
8. Supporting ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required.
9. Assisting with on-site finance support for events and other ad hoc activities where necessary.
Skills & Attributes:
10. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
11. Well organised with the ability to manage and prioritise workload.
12. Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
13. Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.
14. Reliable team player with good communication skills.
15. Professional and proactive approach.
About You:
16. 6-12 months’ experience in an office-based role (finance or admin exposure advantageous).
17. Some exposure to transactional finance tasks would be beneficial but not essential.
18. Willingness to learn and develop within a finance function.
What’s on Offer:
19. Salary up to £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
