Purpose of the Role
As Registered Manager, you will be the operational lead of a children's home committed to providing therapeutic, trauma-informed residential care. You will play a central role in safeguarding children, embedding a nurturing culture, and ensuring compliance with OFSTED and Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
This post requires exceptional leadership to drive service excellence, accountability for financial and staffing resources, and the ability to develop a high-performing, resilient team focused on the best possible outcomes for young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the home as the OFSTED-registered manager, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the home including oversight of care practice, staffing, safeguarding, and administration.
* Design and lead implementation of care planning processes aligned with trauma-informed and therapeutic principles.
* Provide decisive and compassionate leadership, ensuring consistent performance management, staff development, and well-being.
* Deliver person-centred services in line with the Statement of Purpose and local authority placement objectives.
* Ensure statutory returns, inspection preparation, and responses to regulatory bodies are completed to high standards.
* Manage the home's budget, demonstrating value for money and adherence to internal financial controls.
* Lead internal and external quality assurance cycles and performance audits.
* Act as the primary contact for professional stakeholders and commissioning authorities, building collaborative multi-agency relationships.
* Oversee Health & Safety management, staff deployment, rota planning, and building maintenance.
* Serve as part of an organisational on-call senior leadership rota.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* At least 2 years of experience managing in a children's residential care setting
* Track record of leading teams and delivering consistently high standards of care
* Proven experience of financial planning, budget control, and resource management
* In-depth knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation
Essential Skills & Knowledge
* Strong leadership and supervision abilities with an emphasis on staff development and reflective practice
* High-level understanding of therapeutic care models and child development
* Ability to create a culture of accountability, support, and continuous improvement
* Experience of liaising with inspectors, commissioners, and regulatory agencies
* Outstanding communication, risk management, and problem-solving skills
Desirable Attributes
* Level 7 qualification in Strategic Leadership or equivalent (e.g. MBA, CMI Award)
* Knowledge or training in PACE, TCI, or the Trauma Recovery Model
* Experience managing OFSTED-inspected services rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding'
* Familiarity with commissioning processes and multi-agency pathways

* This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check and OFSTED registration approval.
* The postholder must operate in accordance with all True North Care policies, including those on health and safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, and professional conduct.
* The role may include unsocial hours and participation in the senior management on-call rota.
