Job Purpose
The role will sit within the Surveying Estates Team, working closely with the Project Management Team. As our surveying workload grows in the educational, commercial, and residential sectors, we seek an experienced Surveyor to undertake core building surveying duties, mentor and support team members, oversee their workload, and contribute to our professional services. This may lead to a management role for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
* Lead core building surveying duties, including condition surveys, defect inspections, asset management plans, and RICS Level 2 building survey reports.
* Produce detailed survey reports assessing building conditions, defects, and recommendations for repair, maintenance, or restoration. Advise on energy efficiency, environmental impact, and conservation of historic buildings.
* Develop and expand the company's professional surveying services.
* Mentor and oversee the current team members' workload.
* Assist during peak times with school condition surveys and funding reports in collaboration with the Project Management team.
These duties are indicative and may be adjusted as needed. Flexibility and adaptability are expected.
Skills and Knowledge Required
* 3-5 years of relevant experience.
* In-depth experience in conducting RICS Level 2 building survey reports and related surveys.
* Recognised professional RICS qualification (related to Building Surveying).
* Experience achieving organizational targets and demonstrating commercial awareness.
* Ability to produce accurate, high-quality reports meeting client and business needs.
* Self-motivated with initiative, able to meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
* Experience managing junior surveyors or small teams.
* Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
* Confident communication with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
* DBS clearance.
* Valid UK Driving License.
* Chartered MRICS status.
* Experience supporting capital funding bids and working with educational establishments.
* Proven client management skills.
* Understanding of surveying challenges in educational settings.
