Role details:
Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the Calibration and Maintenance Department in Stevenage. This role, pivotal to ensuring the operational availability of critical equipment, involves a range of maintenance activities with a focus on electrical systems. This contract position demands a proactive and technically adept individual.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform preventative maintenance on process equipment and environmental stress screening facilities.
* Diagnose faults and conduct repairs down to component level, using schematics, user manuals, and technical drawings.
* Support operations with preventative maintenance tasks and provide technical guidance.
* Ensure the updates of spares packages to minimise equipment downtime.
* Maintain and manage maintenance and breakdown contracts, both internally and externally.
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and perform regular safety inspections.
* Support faults on extraction units, motors, electrical safety testing, and electrical panels.
* Collaborate with teams to develop effective maintenance schedules and protocols.
Job Requirements:
* Electrical Apprenticeship + L3 competency based qualification (e.g. NVQ or HNC Electrical Manufacturing)
* Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance and fault-finding on electronic manufacturing machinery.
* Ability to interpret technical documents, including drawings and specifications.
* Experience in working with manufacturing process equipment (e.g., CCA) is desirable.
* Knowledge of vibration shakers and environmental chambers is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to task management.
* Understanding of SAP is desirable, along with the ability to mentor junior staff.
* IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 18th Edition) and IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment are preferable.
Additional Information:
* Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
* The position is based in Stevenage and is site-based, with standard day working hours.
* This is a new role created to support ongoing projects within the Calibration and Maintenance Department.
