We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Advisor to join our advisory team at Synnovis on fixed term basis. As a HR Advisor, you will provide comprehensive HR advice and guidance to managers and employees at all levels of the organisation, helping the business provide an industry leading scientific healthcare service to our Trusts. We offer hybrid working, with time split between our flagship headquarters building, our hospital sites and home.

You will be confident in providing the majority of your service remotely, via Microsoft Teams and telephone, but still building a strong rapport and trust with your client managers and employees.

Our managers will look to you for expert advice on the interpretation and application of our policies and procedures and you will need to work closely with the HR Business Partners who have the strategic responsibility for their respective Divisions. The Advisory function forms an integral part of the wider HR team, and you will provide a seamless end to end HR service with the assistance of your colleagues in HR administration, recruitment, learning and development, training and legal.

Main duties of the job

You will be a key member of a small HR Advisory team providing first level HR support to all managers and employees, at all levels and in all locations, with a timely, high quality HR Advice & ER case management service.

In addition, you will support the wider HR Team, with effective and professional HR advice and whilst providing HR Business Partners a tailored, business-focused, operational HR advice on the people implications of business plans and other developments and improving the core HR service to meet customers’ expectations.

You will act as a point of contact for managers and employees, when they require advice and guidance on HR transactional processes and procedures.

You will provide first line advice on employee relations related policy issues such as discipline or grievance and support all aspects of ER case management and administration.

You will interpret HR policies and employment legislation, advise on risk management, coach and support managers in handling change processes and complex casework whilst championing cultural standards.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. To provide a comprehensive HR advisory service both remotely and on a face-to-face basis to approximately 2000 managers and employees, based across 4 main London locations, as well as our Orpington and Harefield hospital sites.
2. The role will involve responding to enquiries relating to employees on Synnovis and TUPE terms and conditions of employment and include a broad range of HR and employee relations issues including sickness absence, discipline, grievance, probation and equal opportunities.

·To participate in employee relations case management and provide support to the Senior HRBP, HRBP’s and Operations Directors and/or lead on case management where appropriate including the organisation of meetings, hearings, panels and related supply of information and the production of agreed minutes as required.

3. To maintain the HR Advisory Mailbox, HR Service Desk on ServiceNow and case management tracker.
4. To advise mangers and employee on the application of Synnovis HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and legislative requirements and the application of best employment practices.
5. To identify any trends in cases or enquiries and suggest potential strategies to reduce them
6. To take a proactive role in the communication and dissemination of new policies and procedures, ensuring managers are trained and competent in their application.
7. To develop positive and effective working relationships with HR colleagues, managers, staff representatives and external agencies.
8. To provide on-going coaching of Operations line managers to increase their skills and employee management capabilities.
9. Helping to deliver training and development modules to our managers to develop their management skills and abilities

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between SYNLAB UK and Ireland, and the NHS, including sites,Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver and transform pathology services across South East London.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

10. Educated to GCSE standard with A-C attained in Maths and English, or equivalent

Desirable criteria

11. Certificate in Personnel Practice / part CIPD qualified

Experience

Essential criteria

12. Proven HR Advisory experience
13. Experience of contribution to the delivery of projects and interventions
14. Substantial experience of Employee Relation case management within an HR environment, providing advice on a wide range of employee relations and employee development issues.
15. Experience in managing complex and sensitive employment relations issues to Tribunal level
16. Experience of working with confidential, sensitive data
17. Experience of contribution to the delivery of projects and interventions.

Desirable criteria

18. Experience of working in health sector – multi site experience
19. Experience of working with HR information systems

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

20. Key stakeholder management with ability to influence and build relationships with managers and staff
21. Solutions orientated with the ability to problem solve and identify new and improved ways of working
22. Ability to prioritise own workload, manage projects and solve problems to meet deadlines, with minimal supervision
23. Ability to manage conflict effectively and overcome resistance
24. Ability to work under pressure, use own initiative and recognise own limitations
25. Excellent IT skills with good experience of MS Office Suite particularly Word & Excel

26. Ability to use formulae and pivot tables within excel
