This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in workshop control, ideally from bus, coach, HGV, or dealership (Volvo, MAN, Scania) environments, who's ready to step into a more stable, strategic, and process-driven position without the weekend working or call-outs.
So what will you be doing as the Workshop Controller?
Plan and coordinate all inspection and maintenance work for a fleet of leased buses and coaches.
Manage and allocate tasks to a small team of field engineers.
Administer and track job cards, vehicle inspections, and end-of-contract checks.
Liaise with dealerships, suppliers, and repair partners to book and monitor works.
Raise purchase orders, manage remedial works and organise recharges where required.
Ensure all maintenance is completed to the highest standards in line with customer agreements.
Communicate with customers regarding planned works, recharges, and vehicle status.
Continually improve and streamline internal processes as we scale.
Report directly to the Operations Director and support broader business growth plans.
What we're looking for in our Workshop Controller:
Previous experience as a Workshop Controller (bus, coach, HGV, or dealer)
Mechanical/technical background - Level 3 NVQ or equivalent
Strong computer literacy (job card systems, spreadsheets, etc.)
Confident communicator - able to engage with both customers and dealerships
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Positive attitude and desire to contribute to a high-performing, close-knit team
Nice to Have:
Experience working with Volvo, MAN, Scania, or Alexander Dennis vehicles
Familiarity with vehicle contract hire / leasing environments
Creative mindset - eager to help improve systems and processes
Customer-first mindset and commercial awareness
As the Workshop controller you will receive:
£45,000 - £48,000 basic salary
Up to 10% annual profit share (paid based on company performance)
25 days annual leave + bank holidays
Christmas shutdown
Monday to Friday only - no call-outs, weekends or shift patterns
