Who You Are We are looking for a Deputy Team Manager within the Community Review Team in the Older Persons and Physical Disability Service at Southwark Council. As a vital part of the management team, you will work with the Team Managers to deliver a safe, strength-based service that promotes and improves independence for our clients. You will ensure comprehensive person-centred assessments, reviews, and interventions, supporting court work when required, and safeguarding residents to enable choice and control regarding their accommodation, care, and support needs. As a supervisor of Social Workers and Assistant Practitioners, you will model and impart expert knowledge and practice within a fast-paced environment. What the Job Involves The Deputy Team Manager will share responsibilities in leading the team alongside the Team Manager. This includes coordinating overall team activities, providing oversight, allocating and signing off on work to manage risks effectively, and acting as a Senior Authorised Manager (SAM) with a strong understanding of safeguarding principles. You will promote a strengths-based approach to assessments and manage the review inbox, ensuring timely case handling. In collaboration with other Deputy Team Managers, you will ensure appropriate case transfers and provide necessary support across other services within OPPD, which may involve longer-term involvement. Flexibility and the ability to prioritize competing demands will be crucial.
