We're looking for compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individuals to join our team.Gain real world experience supporting young people with emotional, behavioural, and mental health needsBuild practical skills that complement degrees in Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Social Work, Criminology, and related fieldsIdeal for mature students seeking a career change into mental health or social careFlexible shifts that can work around university timetables or other commitmentsWhat We OfferExcellent pay: £15.50-£20 per hourPaid mileage for every shiftFully funded training, including a £500 TMVA courseFlexible shift options, including block bookingsOngoing training, development, and professional supportLocation: GatesheadShift Patterns: 8am-8pm (Day) 8pm-8am (Night) 8am-11pm + Sleep-inAbout the RoleAs a Mental Health Residential Support Worker, you'll support children and young people living in residential hope who may be experiencing trauma, emotional distress, or mental health challenges. Working within a minimum 2:1 staffing ratio, you'll help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where young people can grow and recover.Your responsibilities will include:Building positive, trusting relationships with young peopleSupporting emotional regulation and mental wellbeingEncouraging independence, confidence, and personal developmentSupporting daily routines: school runs, appointments, activities, and bedtimeKeeping accurate daily records (emotions, routines, behaviours, activities, etc.)Identifying and reporting safeguarding concernsSupporting with personal care and household tasks when neededManaging challenging behaviour with patience, empathy, and resilienceWhat We're Looking ForA caring, professional, and non-judgemental attitudeStrong communication and problem-solving skillsEmotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressureGood attention to detail when writing notes and reportsExperience in mental health, social care, or youth work (advantageous but not essential)Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (preferred but not required)A valid DBS (we can support your application)A driving licence is a bonus due to varied locationsWhat You'll GainA rewarding role where every day makes a differenceExperience that strengthens your academic studies and future careerCompetitive hourly pay + mileage reimbursementFlexible working patterns to suit your lifestyle or study commitmentsOngoing training and development to support your professional growthIf you're ready to support young people's mental health and want a role that's both challenging and deeply rewarding, we'd love to hear from you.IND-HSC
