Job Summary:
Sewing Machine Operators are responsible for sewing products from various departments to complete customer orders. Projects may involve small pieces or large items; therefore, adaptability is essential. Operators should know the basics of sewing machine operation, possess excellent attention to detail, and be capable of multitasking. Good communication skills are necessary to coordinate with other sewers, warehouse staff, and management regarding job progress or issues. Knowledge of products enables accurate updates and questions about materials are encouraged. A sewing machine operator should be eager to learn new skills, including operating different machines and sewing various materials. Dependability, responsibility, thoroughness, and pride in work are key qualities of a successful Sewing Operator.
Essential Job Duties:
The Sewing Operator's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Maintaining a clean, organized, and ready workspace
* Having at least one year of recent experience with industrial sewing machines
* Experience working with vinyl, leather, or upholstery fabric
* Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs (not required frequently)
* Sitting for 8 hours a day
* Reading rulers or measuring tapes and understanding basic measurement units
* Having reliable transportation
* Maintaining a safe and clean work environment using the “6-S” system:
* Sort - Set in order
* Sustain - Shine
* Standardize - Safety
Qualifications/Skills:
* Ability to perform repetitive tasks
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good organizational skills and a sense of urgency with high attention to detail
* Ability to read work orders
* Ability to read a tape measure and understand measurements
* Willingness to learn different aspects of sewing
