The Vale Youth Service supports young people aged 11-25 years of age. This position sits within the Universal team, offering a varied curriculum of youth activities and projects in schools, the community and outdoors whilst meeting the needs and interests of young people in the Vale of Glamorgan.

About the role
Pay Details: JNC Point 12 £28,501 per annum (pro rata)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 25 hours per week, 40 weeks (this includes working some or part of school holidays but accommodates a flexible working pattern). Working 2-3 evenings per week, occasional weekends and overnight residentials.
Main Place of Work: Office base at Civic Offices, Barry. With travel to our youth provisions located across the Vale of Glamorgan but you will be able to share transport, use Council’s pool cars and/or claim travel expenses.

About you
You will need:
1. Prior experience of face-to-face youth work in a variety of settings.
2. Be familiar with tools and techniques used for gathering information and feedback from young people.
3. Experience of facilitating group sessions to lead on group activities and discussions is essential.
4. Knowledge of evaluation tools to assess the impact of youth activities.
5. Skills to create resources or materials that support youth activities and projects.
6. Candidates should have a recognised qualification in Youth and Community Work minimum Level 3 (or working towards).
7. The candidate should have the appropriate registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) as a Youth Support Worker or Youth Worker.
These qualifications and experiences are important for ensuring that the youth worker are well-prepared to engage with young people effectively, address challenging behaviours, and contribute positively to their development and wellbeing. -
