Overview
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Client-Side / Consultancy Experience, Winchester. Ward Williams is expanding and seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with solid experience in a construction consultancy environment, client delivery, and ambition to grow. This role offers exposure to high-profile projects, leadership development, and the opportunity to influence projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
* Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, building strong client relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Lead on projects with live values typically ranging from £5m–£50m, contributing to a healthy pipeline of secured work and repeat client commissions.
* Collaborate in a fast-moving team, develop leadership skills, and position you for your next career step.
* Engage with stakeholders to ensure project alignment with budget, schedule, and quality objectives.
* Identify and mitigate project risks to minimise impacts on timelines and budgets.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, health and safety requirements, and internal quality benchmarks.
* Provide effective leadership to guide teams through changes in scope, schedule, or resources while maintaining morale and focus.
* Communicate progress, challenges, and strategies clearly to leadership and clients.
Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years PQS experience in consultancy construction project management.
* MRICS qualification or equivalent professional qualification or a clear commitment to achieving chartered status.
* Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, design coordination, procurement, and contract administration.
* Proven experience in budgeting, cost control, value engineering, and maximising project profitability while maintaining quality.
* Experience in managing NEC, JCT, and other contract forms to ensure commercial success.
* Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks to prevent impacts on timelines or budgets.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
* Ability to manage complex project timelines and deliver milestones on schedule.
* Highly proficient in Microsoft 365 and cost management software (e.g., CADMeasure, iTWO CostX).
* Knowledge of regulatory standards, health & safety requirements, and internal quality benchmarks.
* Effective leadership skills, capable of guiding teams through changes in scope, schedule, or resources while maintaining focus and morale.
* Strong communication skills, able to report progress, challenges, and strategies clearly to leadership and clients.
