The Opportunity
Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Commercial Manager to join our team on a £100m new build vaccine research centre in Oxford.
Role Responsibilities:
* Sole commercial responsibility for a project or a section of a project.
* Ensure interim applications for payment and certifications are issued and agreed.
* Manage, administer, and settle subcontractor accounts, including team delegation.
* Prepare and manage claims.
* Manage staff effectively to provide commercial services.
* Lead the commercial team, including development, training, appraisal, and retention.
* Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to achieve project results and maintain relationships.
* Advise on contractual implications and manage commercial risks.
* Prepare monthly contract review reports and communicate risks, opportunities, and changes transparently.
* Maintain contractual chain between head contract and supply chain.
* Prepare management accounts and contribute to the Project Execution Plan.
* Establish the project budget from contract award.
* Identify and manage change control processes.
* Ensure proper execution of contract documents before project start.
* Provide support for work winning activities.
* Undertake the role of package manager when appointed.
Skills & Experience:
* Delivered large projects or managed a £25m area of a larger project independently.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Member of RICS or working towards MRICS.
* JCT experience is preferred.
