The Medical Engineering Technician for Home Ventilation & Community is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a range of medical electronic devices, some of which are complex and technologically advanced, requiring in-depth knowledge of current engineering techniques.
Responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out planned maintenance, repair, calibration, and servicing of medical equipment within patients' homes and community sites.
2. Providing technical support to the Northern Regional home ventilation department and paediatric service, covering from the Scottish Borders in the North to York in the South and Cumbria in the West of the region.
3. Supporting community sites such as walk-in centres.
4. Acceptance testing of new equipment.
5. Training medical and technical staff in the use of medical devices.
6. Performing any other reasonable duties as required by the department or management to support the effective functioning of the team.
Please note: It is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month's pay.
