Compliance and Data Protection Officer
Location/Salary/Contract
East London (office based 3 days per week, with flexibility).
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000.
Contract: Part-time (3 days per week).
The Opportunity
A large and growing property management and development group is seeking a Compliance and Data Protection Officer to strengthen compliance, audit and data governance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and improve compliance policies, processes and controls; ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Deliver staff training and guidance on compliance, risk and operational standards.
* Work closely with the Head of Legal to triage issues and implement agreed actions.
* Lead internal and external audits; maintain evidence, track actions and support policy updates.
* Own third-party compliance (contractors and staffing agencies): due diligence, agreements and assurance.
* Act as the data protection lead: advise on obligations and best practice, and keep up to date with regulatory change.
* Lead organisation-wide data governance and projects, supporting risk framework development and monitoring.
The Candidate
* Proven experience in a compliance role, with strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and controls.
* Credible data protection and data governance experience (including implementing best-practice procedures).
* Strong analytical skills with a practical, solutions-led approach to risk and compliance issues.
* Experience producing clear MI and written documentation for senior stakeholders.
* Confident leading audits and investigations; able to manage sensitive matters with discretion and integrity.
* Excellent communication skills, including delivering training and handling difficult conversations professionally.
* High attention to detail, able to manage a varied workload and collaborate across teams.
