Principal Heavy Civil Design Engineering Lead – HS2 As-Builts
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Heavy Civil Design Engineer to join a leading team delivering as-built design and engineering solutions on HS2 – one of the UK’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes.

The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the design assurance and as-built engineering activities across major HS2 work packages.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring that constructed works are accurately captured, validated, and reflected in final design records, working closely with site teams, designers, and digital delivery specialists.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the review and validation of as-built designs across heavy civils packages (earthworks, structures, drainage, etc.)
* Provide technical oversight and assurance to ensure compliance with HS2 standards and specifications
* Coordinate with construction and site teams to resolve design discrepancies and engineering challenges
* Support the production of as-built models, drawings, and engineering documentation
* Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to technical best practice
* Engage with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information handover
What We’re Looking For
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
* Significant experience in heavy civils design (rail, highways, Structures, civils and major infrastructure)
* Strong understanding of as-built processes and design assurance
* Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects (HS2 experience highly desirable)
* Proficiency with relevant design tools within Bentley Environments.
* Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills
