Overview

Head of Event Operations, London On Site. Benchmark are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded operations lead to join a fast-paced events team. This role offers real potential for career development by leading all operational aspects of an existing events portfolio consisting of four large scale industry conferences and multiple single-day summits. Reporting to the executive team, the event operations head will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution and commercial performance of all events under the Benchmark brand. The right candidate will manage all aspects of event logistics, bringing significant experience in venue contracting and budgeting, with a passion for delivering impeccable events and strong client and stakeholder management skills.


Responsibilities

* Oversee all operational aspects of events planning, simultaneously managing multiple event projects, maintaining project timelines, and ensuring deliverables are met within budget.
* Lead venue selection, contract negotiation and management, and compare DDRs against strategic event goals.
* Manage budget throughout event cycles with a focus on cost-effectiveness while unlocking commercial opportunities in collaboration with events and executive teams.
* Conduct thorough vendor management, identifying, sourcing, and negotiating vendors across F&B, staffing, and technical contractors.
* Maintain clear and regular communication with key clients and C-suite to manage expectations and deliver deliverables.
* Supervise event setup and execution, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and ensure all elements align with event plans.
* Apply risk and safety management knowhow: identify risks and develop contingency plans, ensuring HSSE compliance and local regulations.
* Have a strong understanding of event technology platforms from apps to registration processes.
* Experience across multiple formats including conferences, exhibitions, private client seminars, and hosted meetings.
* Demonstrate problem-solving and resilience under pressure.


Essential skills and experience

* Accurate budget forecasting and cost management experience.
* Contract sourcing and negotiating with venues and hotels on multiple continents.
* Clear customer management and ability to develop unique corporate event experiences.
* Experience in financial services, energy transition, renewables or management consulting sector events is preferable.
* Experience managing events and sponsorships for founder-led firms and large corporations is an advantage.
* Proactive, can-do attitude and a hands-on approach to logistical challenges in events management.
