Mechanical Engineer
Westhill with Hybrid Working

The Role
Provide engineering design solutions and through‑life engineering support to the JFD product range. The workload varies from new product design to meet client or internal specifications to supporting existing clients’ requests to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
What you’ll be doing:
* Assess technical queries and provide engineering design input to new products and support the existing product range.
* Coordinate with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement and production to ensure the best technical solution is delivered.
* Source suitable components and materials when required; create part numbers and bills of materials.
* Produce engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
* Check detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation for compliance with company standards, internal and external regulations.
* Ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time and on budget.
* Conduct site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as required.
* Act as a technical checker for drawings and documentation generated in support of the mechanical engineering role.
What we’re looking for:
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
* Skill in generating design calculations.
* Experience with DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
* Proficiency in FEA structural analysis using ANSYS.
* Ability to manufacture prototype components and take design from concept to validation.
* Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques and gas and fluid systems.
* Familiarity with design standards and industry guidelines such as IMCA.
* Experience working to marine, defence standards and class‑society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
* Product design experience is an advantage.
* Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems for generating and storing engineering packages.
* Previous diving equipment design experience is an advantage.
* Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
