Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed Forensic or General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to work within an exceptional mental health hospital based in Warrington, Cheshire. The service provides care and treatment for adult women in medium‑secure, low‑secure, and psychiatric intensive care (PICU) environments who have personality disorder and other mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities
* Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
* Serve as Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
* Provide a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of patients.
* Contribute to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and help develop service strategy.
* Deliver in‑house training programmes and offer supervision to junior medical staff and other multidisciplinary team members.
* Maintain CPD and re‑validation requirements as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full GMC Registration is mandatory.
* Preferred experience includes prior consultant role in a management capacity.
* Ability to initiate corporate decisions and demonstrate innovative, imaginative thinking.
* Strong understanding of current developments in psychiatry, mental health, change management, relevant legislation, and contemporary issues in mental health.
* Experience with purchaser/provider contractual issues and superior knowledge of mental health legislation.
