Research Associate Positions in Synthetic Chemistry and Bioconjugation
We are inviting applications for five Research Associate positions at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, working within a multidisciplinary team supported by a £3.9M EPSRC Prosperity Partnership Award. The positions are based in the departments led by Professors William Kerr, Glenn Burley, Nick Tomkinson, Craig Jamieson, and Drs. David Lindsay and Rebecca Beveridge.
The research focuses on developing innovative synthetic methodologies for oligonucleotides (ONs) and heterobifunctional molecules, establishing biophysical and biological evaluation platforms, and generating datasets for AI/ML applications to guide synthesis and biology. The roles involve extensive collaboration with GSK, including potential secondments at their Stevenage site.
The ideal candidates will be highly motivated synthetic chemists with a PhD in organic, physical organic, biological, or medicinal chemistry, and a keen interest in kinetics, mechanism studies, and techniques such as React-IR and NMR spectroscopy. The work aims to contribute to the development of future medicines, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches across chemistry, biology, and data science.
The positions are fixed-term for four years, with a salary range of £37,694 to £46,049, working full-time (35 hours/week). For informal inquiries, contact Senior Lecturer David Lindsay at david.lindsay@strath.ac.uk. The closing date for applications is 29/08/2025.
