Job Title: Senior Engineer - Requirements & Acceptance

Salary: Up to £49,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you'll be doing
* Support management and maintenance of requirements using requirements development practices, including compliance details, traceability, acceptance characteristics, acceptance evidence and customer approvals
* Support management and maintenance of acceptance evidence and customer approvals
* Act as a point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
* Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development
* Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
* Maintaining a level of SQEP for the role through personal and professional development
Your skills and experiences
Essential:
* A good understanding of the engineering lifecycle
* Experience working within systems engineering with a focus on requirements and acceptance
* Engineers are encouraged to achieve Incorporated or Chartered status; preference given to candidates who are already professionally registered
Desirable:
* Competence and capability with requirements capture and management software tools e.g. Rationale software tools such as DOORS
* An understanding of configuration management principles

Requirements & Acceptance Team
At Senior Engineer level, you will support the development and ongoing management of project requirements, shaping and supporting completion of acceptance across 8 ships and ensure alignment across multiple delivery areas. A key aspect of the role is the development, collation and presentation of robust evidence to demonstrate to the Customer that requirements have been fully met
The T26 Requirements and Acceptance team report to the Chief Engineer, working with the various delivery areas - engineering, operations, quality, supply chain and the Customer to ensure the project delivers the requirements and that the Customer approves them
The role requires strong engagement with the supply chain, engineering teams, quality and operations, and test and commissioning liaisons. There is direct involvement in trials, including opportunities to attend sea trials, offering first‑hand visibility of how designs perform in operation. This is a highly visible and rewarding role, offering the chance to see how complex systems come together and to play a pivotal part in achieving customer acceptance of the Type 26 platform
