Station Manager (Day Duty) – South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue. Works across various locations in South Yorkshire, dependent on the role.
Salary and Development
Salary in line with National Pay Scales – Competent B (£55,301 per annum). Continuation of competent pay is subject to successful completion of the SYFR Station Manager Development Programme.

Eligibility Criteria
* Currently hold a permanent employment contract as a whole‑time Watch Manager in a UK Fire & Rescue Service (excluding airport and defence services). Applications from substantive Station Managers will also be processed.
* Be substantive and competent in the Watch Manager role having completed your required development in full.
* Must hold an IFE Level 4 Certificate – Unit 3: Fire Service Operations and Incident Command.
* Must hold a Level 3 Assessor Qualification or be willing to achieve it within 12 months (a requirement for continued employment).

Assessment Process
Stage 1 – Operational Assessment
Location: Dearne Fire Station, Manvers Way, Rotherham S63 5DN. The assessment is a Level 2 exercise based on the Effective Command Behavioural Framework and the Skills for Justice Framework. Output: Pass or Fail.
Stage 2 – Leadership & Management Interview and Presentation
Location: Training & Development Centre (TDC), Handsworth, Sheffield S13 9QA. Interview will cover the NFCC Leadership Framework and Fire Standards in Leadership. A 10‑minute presentation will be required on a topic issued in advance.
Key dates
SM Development Workshop Day – Thursday 30th October (09:00–17:00, SYFR Training Centre). Optional one‑day event for internal and external applicants. Application closing date – Monday 10th November 2025 at 08:00.
Stage 1: Operational Assessment – 25th–28th November – Dearne Fire Station.
Stage 2: Management Interview & Presentation – 1st–5th December – SYFR TDC.
