Are you an ambitious cybersecurity professional with a passion for uncovering vulnerabilities and strengthening digital defences?
Join Ultima’s Security Testing Practice as a Penetration Tester and play a key role in protecting our clients’ critical systems, many of which operate in highly sensitive and regulated environments. Working alongside experienced consultants, you’ll deliver high-quality penetration testing engagements, contribute to continuous improvement, and grow your expertise in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment.
What you’ll be doing:
Maintain and develop your penetration testing qualifications and technical expertise in line with Ultima’s business needs and the requirements of our security‑cleared client base.
Deliver Quality Testing
Support the delivery of IT Health Checks and penetration tests, identifying vulnerabilities and providing clear, actionable, and well‑evidenced recommendations to clients.
Collaborate and Learn
Work closely with senior consultants, sharing insights and best practices while contributing to a strong culture of learning and technical excellence within the Security Testing Practice.
Develop Broad Expertise
Expand your skill set to deliver a wide range of security testing services that support evolving business, regulatory, and client requirements.
You’ll also:
* Be passionate about the full security lifecycle.
* Engage confidently with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a solution‑focused mindset.
* Translate complex technical findings into clear, accessible reports suitable for security‑cleared audiences.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* Hands‑on experience in penetration testing or IT Health Check delivery.
* A current penetration testing qualification such as CREST Practitioner Security Analyst (CPSA), CREST Registered Tester (CRT), or Cyber Scheme Team Member (CSTM).
* 2+ years of penetration testing experience (or equivalent practical experience).
* The ability and willingness to obtain and maintain full UK security clearance (e.g. SC and/or DV). This is a mandatory requirement for the role.
* Familiarity with common tools such as Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, Metasploit, and similar.
* A solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model) and common web application vulnerabilities.
You will live and breathe our values:
Commitment, Collaboration, Inclusion, Innovation, and Inspiration.
Join us and help make Ultima a place where everyone feels they belong and can thrive—while delivering security services that protect some of the UK’s most critical systems.
