Commercial Accountant – Scunthorpe - Up to £54,000 + excellent benefits
We are delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking and commercially driven organisation to recruit a Commercial Accountant for a newly enhanced role within their finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to step into a high-impact, business-facing position, where you will play a key role in shaping financial insight, influencing strategic decisions, and supporting the continued growth of a diverse group of trading entities.
The Opportunity
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will act as the finance lead across multiple operational businesses, providing robust financial reporting, insightful analysis, and trusted commercial guidance.
This is far more than a traditional reporting role—you’ll be:
* Partnering with operational teams to drive profitability and performance
* Providing clear, actionable financial insight to support decision-making
* Playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
* Supporting commercial bids, pricing, and contract performance
* Leading on process improvements and system enhancements
* You’ll be embedded within the business, building strong relationships and ensuring finance is seen as a true value-adding partner.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including insightful commentary and variance analysis
* Partner with operational stakeholders to understand performance drivers and improve outcomes
* Support strategic planning, including budgets, forecasts, and 5-year plans
* Provide financial input into tenders, pricing models, and new business opportunities
* Monitor contract performance, including profitability and work-in-progress
* Develop and enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting
* Produce cash flow forecasts and monitor financial health across the business
* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and commercial awareness
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional who is confident working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
* A qualified accountant, later stages PQ or strong qualified by experience
* Experienced in management accounting and financial analysis
* Confident communicating financial information to a non-finance audience
* Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
* Highly proficient in Excel and finance systems
* Experience within construction, contracting, or project-based environments would be highly advantageous.
