A confident and experienced Accounts professional is required to join the finance team and play a key role in the smooth running of financial operations.This is a hands-on, senior-level position ideal for an experienced finance professional looking to contribute to a busy construction office environment. You will work closely with the Company Directors and external accountants to manage day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and compliance.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage daily finance operations
* Purchase ledger and sales ledger
* Bank reconciliations and payment runs
* VAT returns and HMRC submissions
* Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports
* Monitor project costs and budgets in collaboration with quantity surveyors and operations
* Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients regarding payments and queries
* Ensure all financial data is accurate, up to date, and recorded in accounting software
* Support with year-end processes, audits and reporting
* Manage payroll administration or coordinate with external payroll provider
* Identify process improvements to streamline finance operations
* Provide financial support and insights to the management team
Skills and Qualifications
* 3 plus years’ experience in a senior finance/accounts role (preferably in construction or a similar industry)
* Strong understanding of financial principles, cost control, and budget management
* Proficient in Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent Excel and numerical skills
* Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
