Earthworks Specialist | Civil Engineering Contractor | Hampshire
We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected UK civil engineering contractor for a Site Agent to join a major infrastructure project in Hampshire. This site-based role is ideal for someone with a solid engineering foundation and extensive experience in earthworks, someone who can lead from the front, solve problems on the ground, and drive delivery with confidence.
Role Overview
You’ll be embedded within a high-performing project team, reporting to the Project Manager and taking ownership of site activities. Your engineering expertise, particularly in earthworks, will be critical in interpreting designs, managing groundworks, and ensuring safe, efficient delivery in line with programme and budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead site operations with a focus on earthworks planning, execution, and quality control
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and quality standards
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications with precision
* Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely procurement and performance
* Monitor progress, prepare reports, and contribute to financial forecasting
* Conduct daily engineering briefings and coordinate technical requirements
* Resolve contractual and technical issues while maintaining strong relationships
* Mentor junior engineers and operatives to build site capability
* Ensure timely submission of documentation for the health and safety file
Candidate Profile
* Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
* Proven experience as a Site Agent on major earthworks or infrastructure projects
* Strong understanding of soil mechanics, compaction, cut/fill operations, and ground modelling
* Familiarity with Design & Build and NEC4 contracts
* Commercially aware with strong negotiation and reporting skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software
* Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility for travel/stay-away as required
