The School of Computing is seeking to appoint a part-time Assistant Lecturer who can help us to deliver an excellent standard of education across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in computer science. This position will be term‑time focused, and the hours are variable. The role is fixed‑term, with an end date of 31/01/29.
Your primary responsibilities will be the delivery of small‑group classes, such as seminars, drop‑in sessions and PC classes, including assistance with the development of teaching materials and methods. You will also have responsibility for marking assessments and some module‑related admin.
As an Assistant Lecturer you can expect to:
* Undertake teaching and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students
* Deliver teaching and learning support as part of a team
* Collaborate with colleagues in the School on module development, delivery and assessment
What will you bring to the role?
* First degree or equivalent experience in a discipline relevant to computer science
* Possess sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge to deliver an excellent standard of classroom and practical teaching in at least one key area of Computer Science
* Ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn
* Ability to assess the work and progress of students using agreed criteria, and provide constructive feedback
