Reimagine What’s Possible We are looking for Mechanical Technician/Relief Valve Technician to supervise and/or perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of relief valves at UK&I operational facilities; third party facilities; joint ventures and subsidiaries. What will you do? Your day-to-day role will continue to support troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, installation of relief valves, and when required support the mechanical team as and when required. As a Mechanical Technician/Relief Valve Technician you will be familiar with the relief valves and pressure systems located on the facilities served, for example: P&IT documentation/ CREDO, thermal and pilot relief valves. You will also be competent with the various SAP transactions necessary to fulfil the requirements of this role and be able to write Reports/EMRs to the required standards. You will have a basic understanding of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and expanders, pumps, all involving a variety of fluids and specific requirements. Relief Valve Technician will when requested assist the UK&I Maintenance Planner with planning and preparation of forthcoming shutdown activities. You will have the ability to ensure the proper manpower, materials, services and methods are selected to ensure the activities are able to progress safely, efficiently and cost effectively. You will be required to prepare written reports within a reasonable time after completing an activity. The reports should include supporting technical information, drawings, spare parts utilised, scope of work, quantity of resources used, key durations, recommendation and feedback, methods, special procedures/tools and any future work. How will you do it? Assist in mentoring other UK&I relief valve technicians, to assist in maintaining their ongoing authorisation to ensure the UK&I has the required coverage to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the AP policies and procedures. To ensure that planned (preventive) maintenance programmes and all repair and overhaul work is carried out fully and effectively and maintaining regulatory compliance. Ensuring costs remain within budget. To respond to any major occurrence of mechanical breakdown, carry out prompt inspection, analyse the fault, repair and re-commission affected plant and equipment to assure the minimum loss of production. To adhere to the BSP safety philosophy and to ensure that all safety related incidents are reported appropriately. To ensure that the work of all maintenance personnel assigned (including contractors and vendors) is adequately planned and supervised and maintained at a high level of effectiveness. Ensure that Management of Change requirements (MOCs) are in place for all activities & that any changes, modifications or upgrades are documented and approved prior to implementation. Ensure that all PM task compliance is completed, and follow-up reports are written following the completion of the work. Actively work in compliance with Air Products policies and procedures to consistently deliver world class performance, highlighting possible improvements when appropriate. Continually review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures (JSA/WRA’s) and recommend changes where improvements in safety and/or quality may be affected. To give advice and assistance to Plant Managers on maintenance matters as requested (SAP/CREDO), drawing, when necessary, upon the technical resources and expertise of specialist engineers. The ability to communicate in English, both the spoken and written word. To establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all those individuals and departments who receive service from or provide support guidance or assistance to the Mechanical Department. Participate in the testing of equipment and machines often leading to the commissioning and start-up of plant. To collect equipment data for new projects and plant modifications, allocate PM tasks and to ensure these tasks are entered into the SAP data base. To ensure action from reports are followed up to conclusion. To be available “out of hours” to respond to mechanical related breakdowns across UK&I (occasionally Europe). To meet or exceed all individual goals set at the beginning of the year. What are we looking for? Completion of a Formal Mechanical Apprenticeship Significant experience of process pressure systems and equipment (including the use of precision measuring equipment, and preferably experienced in the testing and overhaul of relief valves etc.). Understand materials and systems construction, lifting and rigging, schematics and layout drawings and understand OEM maintenance manuals.
