Autogate Controller
Location: Heysham
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (days & nights)
Temp to Perm position
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Autogate Controller to join our operations team. Acting as the first point of contact for hauliers, you will play a key role in managing the safe and efficient flow of HGV traffic in and out of the terminal using a state-of-the-art automated gate system.
This is a fast-paced, safety-critical position suited to individuals who can remain calm under pressure and communicate effectively in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
* Haulier Support: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, resolving queries and issues via intercom systems
* Traffic Management: Monitor and coordinate high volumes of HGV movements to ensure smooth terminal operations
* System Operations: Operate and oversee the Automated Gate System (including ANPR), identifying and troubleshooting faults
* Safety Compliance: Ensure all vehicle movements are conducted safely in line with site procedures
* Communication & Reporting: Liaise with internal teams and report system issues or operational concerns promptly

* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment
* Confident using IT systems and monitoring platforms
* High attention to detail with the ability to multitask
* A team player who can also work independently
* Able to remain calm and professional under pressure
Requirements
* Previous experience in transport, logistics, or a similar environment is desirable
* Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment
