The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for infrastructure project delivery, combining project management, commercial, and design management to serve public and private sector clients. Our team manages design services across Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join our North, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (NS&NI) practice, based in Newcastle. This role is ideal for an experienced professional ready to advance their career and take on greater project delivery responsibilities from inception to completion. The position involves a mix of agile work from our NS&NI offices and time at client sites and offices.
Our growth is driven by the success of our division and a robust pipeline across the Northern regions, spanning various sectors.
This role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of projects, including refurbishment, new builds, nuclear, defense, and water projects, providing an excellent platform to enhance your project management skills and experience.
Your Responsibilities:
* Ensure project delivery aligns with targets such as schedule, budget, and quality standards.
* Identify and manage contractual and commercial risks, as well as opportunities.
* Lead and develop the project team, fostering motivation and problem-solving capabilities.
* Coordinate communication with clients, project teams, subcontractors, and partners.
* Collaborate with Discipline Leads to establish commercial and communication strategies, including coordination with global centers in Bangalore and New Delhi.
* Manage project delivery programs and plans.
* Protect AtkinsRéalis's commercial interests through timely invoicing, credit control, and financial reporting, including Earned Value Management.
* Oversee project closure, documentation archiving, lessons learned, and client satisfaction assessments.
* Uphold AtkinsRéalis values of Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, and Innovation in all delivery aspects.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Chartered Engineer/Architect/Project Manager or equivalent with experience in managing large infrastructure projects.
* Recognized project management competence, such as APM PMQ or similar, is desirable.
* Experience across various market sectors and familiarity with different construction contracts, especially NEC3/4.
* Proficiency in managing design projects within time, cost, and quality constraints, with knowledge of programming and earned value techniques.
* Understanding of BIM and 3D modeling tools for design and coordination.
* Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
* Knowledge of assurance and compliance principles relevant to the industry.
* Ability to identify new business opportunities and lead them to fruition.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or within a team.
* Leadership qualities, including delegation, mentoring, and motivating teams.
* Excellent communication skills and cultural adaptability.
* Willingness to travel across the UK and work on-site when necessary.
