Deerness Park is a split site surgery in Sunderland- we have sites in both Hendon and within the Bunnyhill Primary Care Centre. We look after 13500 patients and are a team of 40. We are looking for a senior practice nurse to assist the Practice Manager with the management of the nursing and healthcare team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services to the practice population, both through the direct team and running their own clinics.
You will work alongside the practice manager in the leadership of the team, adapting and implementing change, policies and procedures with a well established team.
You will also practice for part of the working week clinically.

Deerness Park is owned by 4 GP partners, managed by a practice manager as well as a reception manager supported by 3 salaried GP's, 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 5 practice nurses, 2 nurse associates, 2 Healthcare Assistants and a large reception team. Together we are responsible for 13500 patients. We are a training practice, regularly hosting GP Registrars and medical students from Sunderland University as well as constantly developing the team in house with regular training opportunities.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will deliver care within the boundaries of their role, focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, monitoring long term conditions, health prevention and screening activities. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures and providing nurse leadership.
They will nurture and develop a nursing and healthcare team, setting clear performance measures and holding others to account.
They will ensure all PGDS, protocolas and policies are impleemted and adhered to.
They will lead for infection prevention control.
Person Specification
Experience
 * Experience of working within General Practice
 * Previous leadership experience
Qualifications
 * Completed Nursing Degree and be registered with the NMC
 * Have completed all core modules on the nursing programme
