Role: Trainee Tutor
Location: Sharpthorne, East Sussex
Permanent
Timings: Monday-Friday | 8:45am-5:00pm (4:30pm finish Fridays)
Salary: £20,000-£22,000 per annum
The Role
As a Trainee Tutor, you will receive comprehensive training to deliver structured 1:1 teaching sessions and support pupils throughout their school day. Working alongside experienced Class Leaders, Teachers, and therapists, you will help implement individual learning programmes, behaviour support strategies, and life-skills development while gaining valuable experience within specialist autism education.
Responsibilities
* Deliver individualised teaching sessions to assigned pupils
* Support children with autism and communication needs using behaviour-based teaching approaches
* Collect, monitor, and record pupil progress data
* Assist with sensory learning, life skills, and extracurricular activities
* Support pupils during lunch, playtimes, and outdoor learning activities
* Work towards keyworker responsibilities for individual pupils
* Contribute to the preparation and organisation of teaching resources
* Support positive behaviour plans and teaching strategies
* Assist with personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff
* Contribute to home‑school communication and pupil progress reporting
