WKSP AV SUP Purposes Primary Purpose. To assist the Avionics (Av) Workshop (Wksp) Manager (WM) to ensure the timely and efficient production of manufactured parts for inclusion in Trial Installations (TIs), Proof Installations (PI’s), batch production runs and any other 1710 Naval Air Squadron (1710 NAS) projects or tasks. To assist/deploy with the Modifications Project Teams when required. To supervise Junior Rates placed in their charge. Secondary Purposes. Mentor for all Av Wksp Junior Ratings. Assume responsibility for health and safety of personnel and equipment under their jurisdiction, IAW 1710 NAS Squadron Standing Orders (SSO). Assume responsibility for the maintenance of correct engineering standards and practices for personnel and equipment under your jurisdiction as detailed in MAM-P, Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publications (MRP) and Naval Orders. Provide professional guidance and advice to the Mods Project Teams in the design and manufacture of avionic items for Modifications. Secondary duties as identified by WM or Workshop Team Leader (WTL). Management The Av Wksp LAET role is: Accountable to the Av WM. Under the functional authority of Deputy Modifications Manager (DMM) for all Flight Safety and Airworthiness matters. Authority The Av Wksp LAET is: Authorised to liaise at the appropriate level with MoD Departments and industry to meet primary and secondary responsibilities. Not authorised to commit 1710 NAS to financial expenditure without the written approval of 1710 NAS Business Manager or the relevant customer PT. Responsibilities The Av Wksp LAET responsibilities within the bounds of trade authorisations are: To comply with 1710 NAS SHEF Policy in accordance with SSO. To manufacture Avionic components for Wksp tasking in accordance with instructions provided ensuring all relevant documentation is completed. To conduct Precision Termination Tooling (PTT) activities and procedures (PTP). To supervise and lead all junior rates under their charge, working within the Av Wksp, ensuring they are familiar with the safe operation of all 1710 NAS Wksp equipment. To manage the production of Avionic Modification kit manufacture as directed by the WM. To demand the materials and components required to complete manufacture and that only sufficient materials and stock are drawn forward from 1710 NAS Logistics Section. To ensure that appropriate tool control procedures are adhered to by all personnel working within the workshop. Ensuring that equipment repairs, servicing and calibration requirements are brought to the attention of the Wksp management, to maintain the serviceability of the Wksp equipment. To assist and undertake all other tasks within the Wksp as required by the WM. The Av LAET Secondary duties may include: I/C Issue Centre Custodian for the Av Wksp. Undertaking the responsibilities as detailed in MAM-P Chapter 4.13 Para 7.1.2 Training and authorisation as required by MAM-P. Implementation and upkeep of the Tool Control Standardised Management System within their respective area. Consulting with the Unit Tool Controller with respect to new/replacement tool requirements. To implement and maintain a robust calibration log within the relevant Wksp. Responsible for the management of stores demanded to support the secondary duty. I/C Expense and FLAP. To ensure adequate levels of materials are held in the wood store, consumables locker and FLAP store to facilitate routine misc tasking. To maintain a register of all expense and FLAP held, to include min and max stock levels. Ensure that all FLAP related PPE is accounted for and in a serviceable condition. Ensure waste FLAP is disposed of correctly. Check retest/expiry dates are within date and ensure that out-of-date stock is removed and disposed of IAW local procedures. Rank / Grade In general, the post holder is to be an: LAET Avionic trade. Authorizations All MAM-P, Local Engineering Authorizations and 1710 NAS Authorizations are recorded on the individual’s Record of Engineering Authorizations and/or 1710 NAS Competence Assessment Form in accordance with COM pro-001.
