Overview
Willow Nursery & Pre-school are seeking a Business Assistant to support the directors, management and staff team in the day to day running of the setting. This role would also include writing and applying for grant funding.
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively as part of a team and on their own initiative, have good communication skills and be able to prioritise work in line with the ever changing needs of a busy early years setting.

Job title - Willow Business Assistant
Reporting to - Willow Nursery and Pre-school Manager & Directors
Hours - Part time hours per week), term time only plus 2 weeks
Location - Working at Willow Nursery and Pre-school
Salary - Subject to experience
Example duties:
* Maintaining Willow's filing system as directed by the Manager
* Providing routine clerical and secretarial support
* Answering the telephone
* Recording and communicating messages for staff and directors
* Ensure that documents for the day to day running of Willow are readily available
* Early years entitlement funding administration
* Monthly invoicing
* Preparing and submitting grant applications
* Act as Committee Secretary, preparing minutes and reports where required
* Develop a good working relationship with our Manager, Directors and the Friends of Willow supporters to ensure they are kept up to date with fundraising opportunities and developments
* Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection
Additional tasks:
* Attending community fundraising events
* Assisting the Manager and Directors with various aspects of governance and administration as required
* Attending meetings and events as required both during and outside normal office
hours (such as Committee meetings)

Person specification
Essential:
* Experience in early years and/or charitable organisation administration
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences
* Excellent attention to detail, with good copywriting and proofreading ability
* Experience in creative proposal writing and the ability to demonstrate clear outcomes and impact
* Excellent understanding of how to research and write funding applications to trusts and foundations.
* Good research skills with experience in identifying quality new business leads
* Proven ability to form good working relations, both internally and externally with
people at all levels
* Excellent IT literacy with proficiency in the use of standard IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
* Able to work unsupervised and independently
* Innovative and keen to find solutions to problems
* Ability to prepare and present information clearly and concisely
* Comfortable working within a team setting
* Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
Desirable:
* Experience of, and have demonstrable success in, trusts and foundations fundraising
* A self-starter with initiative
* Experience of working with committees, ideally with a charitable remit
* Experience using online grant management systems
