The role
Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! It takes a great deal of people from different backgrounds, with diverse skills and experience to serve our force area effectively, think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Safeguarding Department as a MOSOVO Violent and Sexual Suppression Officer.
You will support the management of high risk violent offenders and potentially dangerous persons, monitoring, assessing, and mitigating risk in line with MAPPA processes. You will work closely with partners to share critical information, coordinate safeguarding activity, and ensure robust, consistent risk management.
Playing a key role in protecting communities, you’ll guide local policing teams, oversee offender management actions, and contribute to delivering policing priorities through a proactive and professional approach.
What you’ll do
* Manage a caseload of violent offenders and potentially dangerous persons, monitoring release dates and applying appropriate risk management and disruption tactics.
* Work closely with probation, prisons, and partner agencies to share information, conduct intelligence activity, and support effective offender management.
* Contribute to MAPPA and related meetings, providing updates, sharing intelligence, and implementing agreed risk management actions.
* Gather, analyse, and report intelligence from police systems to support both local and cross force offender management.
* Identify and assess risks to prevent further offending, including progressing preventative orders and supporting court processes where required.
What you’ll bring
* Experience working within multi agency environments, with strong capability in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation, alongside a sound understanding of vulnerability and public protection.
* Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, make sound decisions, and critically analyse information with a questioning and detail focused approach.
* Ability to assess complex situations, identifying criminal, safeguarding, and civil interventions to mitigate risk, and to analyse information effectively to reach balanced, evidence based conclusions.
* Strong team player with proven experience collaborating effectively across internal and external partners, supporting colleagues and valuing individual differences to achieve shared objectives.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels, partner agencies, and the public, while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
* Strong report writing ability, producing accurate and timely documentation to support risk management, alongside a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
We know it’s important for you to feel that you’re not only part of a great team, but part of a community. We welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
Harnessing these differences creates a productive environment in which everyone feels valued, and their talents are fully utilised. Appointments are based on merit alone.
